Top Secret/MAJIC
📖 Top Secret/MAJIC
Top Secret/MAJIC is the result of nuclear physicist Stanton T. Friedman’s eleven-year search for the truth, focused on the mysterious Operation Majestic Twelve—a secret classified “Top Secret/MAJIC.” The book publishes for the first time some of the most astonishing of these documents, and it tells the incredible story of the recovery of a crashed flying saucer near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947, and of President Truman assembling a true all-star team (the “Majestic Twelve”) to deal with the saucer and its non-human occupants.
Library Journal review
Friedman, a nuclear physicist and a well-known “ufologist” (author of Crash at Corona: The Definitive Study of the Roswell Incident, Marlowe, 1994), examines the documentary evidence for a secret government group called Majestic Twelve (sometimes shortened to “MJ-12” or “MAJIC”). The group was allegedly formed in 1947 to handle the wreckage of a flying saucer that crashed near Roswell, New Mexico. The U.S. government has always denied that any such event occurred or that the group exists. Friedman tries to authenticate the so-called MJ-12 documents that mysteriously surfaced in 1984 and 1994. He also rebuts skeptics such as Carl Sagan and Philip Klass, and he criticizes the findings in Kevin D. Randle and Donald R. Schmitt’s recent book The Truth About the UFO Crash at Roswell (Library Journal, June 1, 1994). This book includes, for the first time, portions of a 1984 Special Operations Manual on the recovery and disposal of extraterrestrial entities and technology. If its authenticity were confirmed, it would strongly support the government cover-up Friedman argues for—what he calls the “Cosmic Watergate.” The book is speculative to a degree, but Friedman mostly proceeds as a scientist, weighing all the evidence carefully before drawing conclusions. Recommended for public and academic libraries. — Gary D. Barber, State University of New York at Fredonia Library
