Florida Navy UFO Tracking Incident

The U.S. Navy has for the first time acknowledged that three “unidentified flying object (UFO) videos” that went viral online were genuinely filmed, and said these videos “should not have been made public.”

Object unidentified, speed astonishing. In late 2017, The New York Times disclosed a video said to have been filmed by the U.S. Navy showing a UFO. The following March, two similar videos were also released. The clips known as “Gimbal” and “FLIR1” were both filmed in 2004 off San Diego, California, while “GoFast” was captured in 2015 off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida. A September 16 report in the American science magazine Popular Mechanics also noted, “The motion of the objects in the videos is not something current human aviation technology can do.”

The video clearly shows a UFO suddenly appearing at 80,000 feet, diving rapidly toward sea level, stopping at 20,000 feet, and circling in the air at astonishing speed. The fighter pilot can also be heard shouting, “What the hell is that?” and “That’s incredible!” The report says the Pentagon has long held that so-called UFOs are actually drones or balloons. On September 17, Fox News quoted U.S. Navy spokesperson Gradisher as saying the Navy “truly cannot identify” the objects in the videos, though the videos show only “unexplained aerial phenomena” (unexplained aerial phenomena, UAP), and that this does not mean the craft are piloted by extraterrestrials. Gradisher also said that although the videos were not placed in classified files, they were never authorized for release.

The report says the U.S. Congress also discussed the footage in June. Mark Warner, vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee, argued that if the Navy cannot explain what the objects are, national security may be threatened and the truth should be pursued to the end. In June, President Trump also told the press, “We have indeed been receiving more and more reports of unidentified flying objects lately, but we will find a way to get to the truth.”

【AR comment: Asked about this on a well-known American interview program, Hillary Clinton said that, provided national security was not affected, she would tell the public the results of the investigation, which in practice amounted to making no commitment. Barack Obama, in an interview, at one point said awkwardly, “They won’t let me say these things.”; UFO reports in fact already have a history of several decades, and it is not the case that they have only recently grown more numerous. What Trump calls finding the truth is, in practice, only a brush-off.】

The report says The New York Times previously interviewed retired Commander Fravor, who filmed a UFO in 2004. He said that he and a colleague were flying F/A-18F Super Hornets on a routine training flight when the cruiser USS Princeton notified them that the ship had detected a mysterious craft, had been tracking it for two weeks, and was directing the two of them to investigate. Fravor then saw a white oval object 12 meters long hovering above the sea and churning the waves. He began to descend; the object rose, as if to meet him halfway, and then accelerated away. “I have never seen acceleration like that.”

F-18s scramble to intercept and are led in circles. The New York Times also revealed that from 2007 to 2012 the U.S. Department of Defense allocated $22 million a year to the “Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program” (AATIP) to investigate cases in which U.S. forces encountered UFOs, including the “Nimitz incident” of November 2004. At the time, the USS Nimitz carrier strike group, to which the USS Princeton belonged, played “hide and seek” with UFOs for six days. F-18 fighters scrambled repeatedly in an attempt to intercept the high-speed UFOs, and were led in circles by craft that “broke every law of physics.”
