Billy Meier

Profile

“Billy” Eduard Albert Meier, Chinese name: Billy Meier or Billy Meyer. Born on February 3, 1937, in Switzerland, in Bülach near Zurich. He is a legendary figure in UFO history. He claims to be a UFO contactee and pioneer, and he also has a large body of evidence for his encounters and many highly controversial UFO photographs. He has further recorded his experiences of contact with extraterrestrials and detailed conversation transcripts; he describes the aliens he contacted as humanlike in appearance.

Background

Billy Meier on an Indian newspaper in 1964. Eduard Albert Meier, born in Switzerland Zurich as a farmer, claims that in 1942, at age five, he had his first contact with an elderly alien named Sfath; contact with Sfath continued until 1953. From 1953 to 1964 Meier continued contact with a female alien named Asket; contact then ceased for 11 years until January 28, 1975, when he again began contact with Sfath’s granddaughter, a female alien named Semjase. In his youth Meier joined the French Foreign Legion, but soon left and returned home. He also traveled through 42 countries around the world in pursuit of spiritual exploration. In 1965, in Turkey, in Iskenderun, he lost his left arm in a car accident. In 1966 Meier met a Greek woman named Kalliope and married her; they had three children. The nickname “Billy” came from a trip of his in Iran, in Tehran, when an American woman named Judy Reed saw Eduard Meier wearing a black hat, a pistol holster at his waist, and cowboy clothes, and was reminded of the “legendary gunslinger of the Wild West”—”Billy the Kid,” so she gave him the nickname “Billy.” Thereafter the nickname “Billy” stayed with Meier for life. Meier has a large number (thousands) of highly controversial photographs showing alien spacecraft; he says they were taken and filmed with the aliens’ permission as some evidence that aliens had visited. His claims have stirred debate among UFO skeptics and UFO enthusiasts. Meier’s supporters and believers are mostly UFO fans, and his evidence has been further publicized through American media representative Michael Horn (a well-known U.S. lecturer, writer, and producer). Michael Horn often appears on the late-night program Coast to Coast AM (a North American overnight radio talk show covering many topics, most often paranormal phenomena and conspiracy theories).

Contact

According to Meier, from 1975 he began his official contacts (“official” meaning publicly providing evidence, unlike the earlier contacts). Meier communicated with the aliens both directly (face to face) and by telepathy, and he calls these aliens Plejaren (Pleiadians or Seven Sisters people). Their names include Ptaah, Semjase, Quetzal, Pleja, and others. In the documentary Contact about Meier’s case, Meier says his first (official) contact with the aliens began on January 28, 1975. Many contacts occurred in daytime; notified telepathically by the aliens, the one-armed Meier would struggle to ride a small scooter carrying a camera to the destination, later gradually shifting to nighttime.Alien craft photographed by Billy Meier. On telepathy, he explains: “The phenomenon of telepathy is like being struck by lightning, like a cold wind passing across your forehead; the sensation is very, very faint, then it vibrates in the mind, and then the telepathic signal appears—it can be like an image about to emerge, or like a sound. This feeling cannot be described in any words; in short, it is an informative sound.” —from Light Years. These alien visitors are said to come from the Pleiades in another dimension, and in most of the contacts these alien visitors gave Meier some interesting evidence samples: including high-definition photographs, film, high-frequency craft sound recordings, a laser gun Meier temporarily tested on a tree, and metal samples. The alien visitors also gave him certain information and a mission of consciousness elevation; he has consistently shouldered that mission while facing much contempt and ridicule. He has also been the target of 23 assassination attempts, some from hostile alien forces later defeated through intervention by his alien friends. Meier feels embarrassed by certain grandiose representative roles attributed to him (such as “pioneer”).Alien craft photographed by Billy Meier. To help some researchers enter this field, in 1975 Meier founded a nonprofit organization, FIGU ( Freie Interessengemeinschaft für Grenz- und Geisteswissenschaften und Ufologiestudien), headquartered at the Semjase Silver Star Center (SSSC for short—where Meier lives). This was a famous Swiss UFO case of the 1970s (according to Meier, contact continues to this day); it caused a worldwide sensation at the time, spawned a large following of Meier enthusiasts, and remains to this day the most complete UFO close encounter of the third kind case, with the richest contact evidence and the widest influence.

Contact reports: Meier says he was instructed by the aliens to transcribe his conversations with each of them, and the actual contact dialogues were recorded word for word; some have been published in German. These books are called Contact Reports (or Contact Notes); 14 volumes have been published to date. Some contact reports were edited, abridged, and translated into English by Meier-case investigator Wendelle Stevens and published in the now out-of-print four-volume Message From The Pleiades. Meier’s discussions with the aliens are highly detailed and wide-ranging; topics include the origin of the universe, Earth’s history, science, astronomy, spirituality, reincarnation, terrestrial religions, the humanities, human history, population issues, ecological and environmental destruction, as well as of future trends and events prophecies.。《Talmud Jmmanuel》:Another side of the Meier case is the highly controversial book Talmud Jmmanuel, translated from an ancient Aramaic scroll said to have been discovered by Meier and a colleague in 1963 in Jerusalem. The book records Immanuel (Jmmanuel; Jesus)’s life and original teachings.《And Still They Fly》:The most recent book introducing the Meier case is And Still They Fly, published in the United States in 2004. Its author, Guido Moosbrugger, is Austrian, formerly an elementary-school principal; he has studied UFOs and astrophysics extensively and traveled widely in Western Europe, Morocco、Tunisia、Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Mexico, and South America. Guido first encountered Billy Meier’s UFO case in 1976, took a deep interest, personally conducted on-site investigation, and thereafter became Billy’s close friend, an eyewitness, and a case chronicler. Guido is inseparable from Billy’s UFO/ET contacts, because in many cases Guido was nearby, and thus had opportunities to witness and photograph takeoffs and landings of various kinds of UFOs. And Still They Fly provides his own firsthand UFO experiences, UFO photographs, Billy’s alien-contact accounts and messages, and more.Light Years: This book is an investigative work on the Meier case by Gary Kinder (American journalist/lawyer). The English edition of Light Years was published in 1987. Gary Kinder spent three years studying Meier’s case, presenting all the evidence, detailing prior expert research, and placing the case within the entire history of the UFO phenomenon. JeromeClark, lead writer for the International UFO Reporter and highly regarded in ufology, once said: “Kinder has made the most responsible inquiry into this affair.” The book was translated in Taiwan as UFO Light Years, published by Taipei’s Youth Cultural Company in 1996, and in 1998 republished on the mainland by Zhejiang Literature & Art Publishing House as Light Years; both editions are now out of print.

Controversy and verification

Photographs and filmMeier’s highly controversial “wedding cake” craft photos. Some of the most important evidence in the Meier case comes from his large body of controversial UFO photographs and film—images and footage of unprecedented clarity, realism, and impact, with a strong metallic look to the saucers. These include spacecraft photos in the Swiss countryside and photos of the Apollo–Soyuz docking in space. Supporters insist such high-definition, high-quality photos could not have been faked by a one-armed man. Critics argue Meier’s photos are forgeries. Some critics further produce similar fake photos claiming Meier’s were copied from science fiction, illustrations, and TV programs, while Meier claims intelligence agencies (such as Men in Black and others) tampered with his original photos to discredit his UFO evidence. Other critics claim focus and lighting problems point to cut-and-paste and model techniques. Photographic effects expert and stop-motion animator Alan Friswell provided some of the most persuasive evidence; in the June 2005 Fortean Times he published recreations of Meier’s photos, using pre-digital film effects and older photographic techniques. In Friswell’s view, Meier’s photos used only “old tricks” such as miniature models in the foreground and photographic collage. Friswell carefully reproduced some of Meier’s credible UFO photos, but those recreations could not prove Meier was a fraud, still less disprove Meier’s personal experiences, and in the end he reached no definitive conclusion. In 1997 Meier’s ex-wife Kalliope also claimed Meier’s UFO photos were a hoax. She said Meier made UFOs from household storage-bin lids, pins, and other household items; she admitted the so-called “wedding cake” UFO was made from a storage-bin lid; and that Meier’s alien adventure stories were entirely fabricated; that a female alien in one photo was actually an acquaintance of Meier’s wearing metal-foil clothing; and that photos of female aliens Asket and Nera were actually two dancers from The Dean Martin Show, Michelle DellaFave and Susan Lund.Metal samples:Metal samples given to IBM for study. Marcel Vogel was a research chemist, one of 12 senior scientists among the 9,000 people IBM employed in San Jose. Holder of 32 patents, he worked at IBM for 22 years and invented the magnetic-disk coating memory system for that major computer company—an invention still used in IBM disk memory worldwide. Vogel began research on liquid crystals for optical displays in 1960. He is now an expert on energy conversion inside crystals; Vogel used what was then the world’s most complete optical microscope equipment to probe crystal internal structure—a scanning electron microscope system worth $250,000. In 1975 Wendelle Stevens obtained through Meier some outer-space crystals and alien craft metal, later given to Marcel Vogel for analysis. Vogel later recalled: “When I touched those two oxides with a stainless-steel probe, red streaks appeared, and then the outer oxide layer disappeared. I merely touched it like that, and it began to deoxidize and become a pure metal. I had never seen this phenomenon before; it was truly extraordinary.” Another metal sample contained almost every chemical element in the periodic table. Vogel said: “Each component was quite pure; each element was combined with the others yet retained its own properties.” No known terrestrial substance could be combined this way. In the end this metal sample mysteriously disappeared from Marcel Vogel’s lab. Before the gold-and-silver triangular piece Vogel held vanished, the IBM scientist had converted it under the $250,000 scanning electron microscope to videotape and recorded their findings. The tiny sample contained very pure silver and very pure lead, plus potassium, calcium, chromium, copper, argon, bromine, chlorine, iron, sulfur, and silicon. Microscope results showed “this mixture contained almost every chemical element in the periodic table,” and each component was quite pure. Vogel later said: “This is an unusual combination, but I cannot say from appearance or composition alone that it was made by aliens.” What interested Vogel even more than the variety and purity of elements was their separateness: each element combined with the others yet retained its own properties. “When you see metals side by side like this, it is truly astonishing,” he said while examining the microscope and narrating for the video. “Each layer is extremely pure, and they do not interpenetrate. This is a combination of metal and nonmetal, bound very tightly together; I know of no one who could produce anything like it.” Magnifying a small central region 500 times, he found two parallel recessed tracks linked to wheel grooves; under the microscope gold-dust outlines were clear, but more surprising was that the main element in that small region was a metal rare on Earth—thulium. He said: “This was completely unexpected. Thulium was purified as a byproduct of atomic-energy production only in World War II, and stocks are extremely scarce. It is very expensive, far exceeding platinum, and extremely hard to obtain. Only those with rich metallurgical knowledge would know such a morphological composition exists.” Vogel magnified the half-inch fragment from 500× to 1,600× and saw things he had never seen before. “An entirely new world appeared in the sample. There were structures within structures—very unusual. At lower magnification you see only the metal surface; now you can see structures of interlocking forms—truly astonishing.” Vogel probed further: “We are now past 2,500×, and we can see dual-variant structures. Very peculiar; seeing such dual-variant regions from a single metal is highly unusual. At first, when you take a portion to polish, it looks like metal and has metallic luster, but under polarized light you find that although it is metal, it now presents as crystal.” Vogel finally poured all his expertise into these comments: “To my knowledge, no technology on Earth can do this! As a scientist, I myself cannot synthesize such a metal. I believe people in our scientific fields should do serious research on these things, rather than treat them as mere fantasy.”
