CE-5: Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind

Introduction:This book examines the phenomenon of close encounters of the fifth kind (CE-5), that is, deliberate interaction between humans and unidentified flying objects. Drawing on eyewitness reports and cases, the author asks whether this imitative behavior represents deliberate communication by an extraterrestrial civilization. The book looks in depth at the anomalous behavior of UFOs and offers readers a new perspective on contact with extraterrestrials.

Introduction

Almost everyone today has read about (and seen in movies and on television) fantastic accounts and graphic displays of strange flying discs that hover silently, rise up vertically at fantastic speed, and perform breathtaking maneuvers in the air and even below water. We are captivated by their dazzling appearances and antics, and wonder whether they could be real. To many people, these images are only the creative imagination of Hollywood UFO enthusiasts or of science-fiction computer graphics, while to a growing number of others they represent actual 3D objects.

Usually these objects seem concerned only with their own affairs. According to thousands of eyewitness reports, news clippings, films, and the occasional radio and television report, these aerial objects behave as if they have not noticed the people watching them.

Now and then, though, we read of someone waving at a craft at night, or shining a light at it. We rarely find out what happens in those cases. This isCE-5: The Subject of Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind。

Sometimes a person’s behavior seems to be repeated exactly by the UFO. Two brief flashes of a flashlight, for example, are followed by two brief flashes from the object in the sky. A pilot gently rocks his wings, and soon an oval metallic disc nearby wobbles. Mile after mile along a winding road, a driver is precisely paced by a nearby unidentified flying object. Does this imitative response to an unusual phenomenon represent some deliberate communication, pure coincidence, or something else we know nothing about? One purpose of this book is to explore those possibilities.

We are captivated by their dazzling appearances and antics, and wonder whether they could be real. To many people, these images came only from creative imaginations of UFO fanatics in Hollywood or Sci-Fi computer-graphics, while to a growing number of others they represent actual three-dimensional objects.

Usually these objects seem to mind their own business. According to many thousands of eye witness reports, press clippings, movies, and occasional radio and television accounts, these aerial objects act as if they are oblivious of their witnesses.

Yet, once in a while we read about someone who waves at the craft or shines a light at it at night. Seldom do we find out what happens in these kinds of circumstances. This is the main subject of CE-5: Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind.

Occasionally someone behaves in a way that seems to be exactly repeated by the UFO. Two short flashes of a flashlight, for example, are followed by two short light flashes from the airborne object. A pilot wiggles the wings of his airplane slightly, and an oval metallic disc nearby wavers soon afterwards. A driver is exactly paced by a nearby unidentified aerial object mile after mile of curving roads. Do such mimicking responses by the unusual phenomenon represent some type of deliberate communication, a pure coincidence, or something else we know nothing about? One purpose of this book is to explore these possibilities.
