Major Gordon Cooper

On May 15, 1963, Major Gordon Cooper rode a rocket into space on a 22-orbit mission around Earth. On the final orbit, this last astronaut to enter space alone, during his first Mercury mission, reported to the Muchea tracking station that a glowing green object was approaching the capsule.

NBC reported the UFO sighting and told reporters they were not to ask questions about it.

This was not the first time Major Gordon Cooper had seen a UFO. As early as 1951, while flying an F-86 Sabre jet over West Germany, he had spotted another UFO. They were huge metallic discs, flying at very high speed and altitude, and could clearly outrun any American jet with ease.

Major Cooper also said while testifying at the United Nations:

“I believe these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting Earth from other planets… Most astronauts are unwilling to talk about UFOs.”

In a recorded interview with J.L. Ferrando, Major Cooper said:

“In 1951 I did watch them make many flights over two days in a row. They varied in size, flew in fighter formation, and usually swept across Europe from east to west.”

“For years I kept a secret, a secrecy requirement imposed on every astronautics specialist. I can reveal it now: every day in the United States, our radar picks up objects of unknown shape and composition. Thousands of sighting reports and a large body of documents prove it, but no one is willing to make them public.

Why? Because the government fears the public will assume the worst and panic over these frightening intruders. So the policy is: we must avoid panic at all costs.”

“I also witnessed an extraordinary phenomenon here on Earth. It happened in Florida a few months ago. I saw with my own eyes a patch of ground consumed by flame, leaving four depressions made by a craft that landed in the middle of a field. Beings left the craft (other traces support this). They seemed to study the terrain, collect soil samples, and finally return where they had come from at astonishing speed. I happen to know the government used nearly every means available to keep the event off the press and television, for fear of a public panic.”

“I did have an occasion in 1951 to have two days of observation of many flights of them, they were of different sizes, flying in fighter formation, generally from east to west over Europe.” according to a taped interview by J. L. Ferrando, Major Cooper said:

“For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists in astronautics. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public.

Why? Because Government is afraid that people may think the worst and panic about these creepy horrible invaders. So the idea is: We have to avoid panic by all means.”

“I was furthermore a witness to an extraordinary phenomenon, here on this planet Earth. It happened a few months ago in Florida. There I saw with my own eyes a defined area of ground being consumed by flames, with four indentations left by a flying object which had descended in the middle of a field. Beings had left the craft (there were other traces to prove this). They seemed to have studied topography, they had collected soil samples and, eventually, they returned to where they had come from, disappearing at enormous speeds.
