🔍 Event details

On July 17, 1957, a U.S. Air ForceRB-47H electronic reconnaissance aircraftwhile on a training mission, encountered one of the sightings with the greatest value as technical evidence in the history of UFO research. The six officers on board went throughmore than 1.5 hours, across four states,of continuous tracking, and obtainedradar, visual, and electronic-signal interceptin triple confirmation.

Shortly after the RB-47 took off from Forbes Air Force Base in Mississippi, the onboard ELINT electronic-intelligence system detected an anomalous signal. Then an object giving offan intense blue-white lightappeared near the aircraft and maneuvered at speeds far beyond those of any known aircraft. The aircraft’s two APS-23 radars and a navigator’s visual sighting locked onto the object at the same time.

The object flew alongside the aircraft for about700 miles, crossing Louisiana and Texas before finally disappearing over Oklahoma. During this time the object displayed maneuvers that violate known laws of physics—instant acceleration, sudden stops, and right-angle turns。

NICAP ranked this case among“the ten best UFO cases in history”, one of them. A detailed analysis by Brad Sparks (Brad Sparks) points out that this isthe only UFO case confirmed at the same time by radar, visual observation, and electronic signals。
